Description of the Rope Brakes The rope brakes SB 200 and SB 330 are type certified safety components for lifts meeting the requirements of EN 81-1. They serve as protection device against overspeed (EN81-1 9.10) for upwards traveling cars. Although the rope brakes provide also protection at downwards traveling cars this does not avoid the installation of a safety gear. However, since the rope brake will be actuated before the safety gear it is easy on the latter and the guiding rails. The rope brake's braking power is pneumatically generated. This may be achieved by means of an existing supply pipe or by means of a separate compressor. The compressor is noise-reduced and runs, when properly connected, for max. 30 seconds after the rope brake has been actuated 3 times. The required pressure of min. 6 bar is monitored by means of a pressure switch. In case, the minimum pressure is fallen below, the car continues its travel to the requested stop can then, however, not be further operated until the defect is eliminated. At overspeed, the rope brake receives a signal from the pre-cut off installed at the rope brake which causes it to be closed. The asbestos-free brake plates slow down the suspension ropes and arrest the car. A test over ca. 400 braking cycles has shown that this procedure does in no way damage the suspension ropes. The brake plates did not have to be replaced after the test. The rope brake is re-opened by resetting the pre-cut off. In case of a power cut, the rope brake is closed but automatically re-opened once the power supply is re-established. Optionally, the rope brake may also act as stillstand monitoring device when the car is at a stop. If this is required, please do not hesitate to contact us. In case, the rope brake is closed due to an overspeed condition, the car can be traveled to the next stop by means of venting the rope brake, provided the left has been checked beforehand by expert personnel. This allows for quickly freeing any passengers caught in the car. Mounting options have been described below. The rope brakes may be mounted as follows: 1. On the car side These rope brakes are ideally suited for retrofitting since their installation does not require demounting the ropes. |
Description of the Rope Brake Control C11 The brake control C11 serves for monitoring the operational readiness of the rope brake. It processes the following signals: 1. Pre-cut off at the overspeed governor. 2. Pressure switch at the pneumatic valve. 3. Self-Monitoring 4. Switches at the rope brake 5. Power supply In case you require additional stillstand monitoring, we will gladly advise you on several solutions. |
